The Visitor from the East – Parable

a. Dhruv was young and energetic, with exceptionally good culinary skills as compared to Narayan and the rest of the kitchen staff. He had a special interest in ethnic and culturally diverse food and worked towards honing his special skills.

b. Dhruv took time to visit the great chef Gosha- the only chef in a hundred-mile radius who knew anything about eastern cuisine. This was primarily to cater to the Royal family guest Lin Tsao- the famed scholar from the East.

c. Dhruv’s main focus was to become the Chief of the Royal Kitchen. For that, he followed a strict daily routine and started his day way before Narayan did. He carefully allocated his precious time in the best way possible.

d. As a practice, all the Kitchen staff would have their own festivities after their evening duties. However, Dhruv chose to give it a miss, so that he could visit Chef Ghosha to learn about food customs of the Easterners

e. Dhruv would rise early and spend time every morning learning more about the ways of the Easterners from Narayan, including their eastern cuisine and unique customs.
